Lightening Doesn’t Strike Twice

Or so they say. However I got a message today telling me that the mortgage advisor is off sick today and so our appointment is cancelled. Hmm, I’m beginning to think this is some kind of sign…

I was suppoed to meet him last Tuesday but he cancelled at the last minute as things seemed to get a bit hectic for him as the day went on. Annoyingly, though, if I’d known before I left for work this morning, I would have brought my gym gear with me. I’m still chuffed with myself for going three times last week, as for the first time since I started going regularly, I actually managed to get down there as often as I originally planned. But, becuase of this (now cancelled) appointment I decided that I couldn’t make it down there today. Except I can, but I’ve not got my stuff with me. Did I say it was annoying?

I saw this photo and for some reason it made me laugh. I guess it summed up how I’ve been feeling this morning!

Things have settled down here at work, which I’m grateful for. We released some new code today that I was unable to test before going live, so fingers crossed it works OK. I have to admit, though, that recently I’ve started to feel like I can’t really be bothered with all this 9-to-5 rubbish. I knew that even before I finished uni many moons ago, but obviously the common sense factor kicked in, and I got a job. I still think that it would be awesome to own my own company, and even though I’ve had a few little projects to do since leaving uni, I don’t really think that now is the time to be going freelance. People just aren’t spending the money.

The new series of Lost aired in the UK last night. And thankfully it was a 2-hour special, as it can be so annoying when you only get to see a one-hour episode every week! Apparently they’ve actually planned out the ending to the show now, and they know exactly how many episodes are left. If you ask me, there’s far too many questions yet to be answered, and 34 episodes probably won’t be enough to answer them all in. I can see the story developing in such a way that the majority of this season will see the Oceanic Six returning to the island, but the fundamental question of ‘why’ will remain unanswered. I hope they do answer all the questions people have. If they do, it’ll be an excellent series. It’s always been pretty good in my eyes, even when the writers had no idea where the story was going, but to make sure that everyone ends up with their curiosity satisfied would be the icing on the cake. Of course, they could leave it very open-ended and let people make up their own minds, but I don’t think many people would be too impressed with that.

I think I need more sleep. I spent the good majority of the weekend playing computer games, which is something I haven’t done a lot of for the last couple of years. Especially since buying my CDJs. But I have to say, that Red Alert 3, while a bit on the easy side, is an awesome game. It looks good, and the acting in the cut scenes is awesomely cheese-tastic! There are three factions to fight with this time, as opposed to the usual two – the Allies, the Soviets, and the Empire Of The Rising Sun. So far I’ve completed the Soviet campaign, and I’m working on the Allied campaign right now. Hopefully I won’t get too addicted to the game, or else my precious mixing time will lose out!
