Friday, woo!

“I’ll be back!”

Ahh, Friday – the best day of all of them. It’s just a shame there’s only one a week!

I’m hoping that at some point tonight I’ll be persuaded to go and see the new Transformers film. In reality it’ll be me trying to persuade other people to go. But with Megan Fox in it, who wouldn’t want to see it?!?

It’s been a slightly hectic week at work this week for some reason. Thankfully, it’s settled down today, and things aren’t quite so mad. Which is just as well, as I’ve had other things on my mind. With the USA trip looming, there’s bound to be a few things that I’ll need to buy for it, but I’ve not had any time to think about it.

One thing that has occupied my mind for a few days now is a new(ish) Star Trek game that I found out about: Star Trek Online. I have to say, I’m really looking forward to it for a number of reasons. The first reason is that there hasn’t really been a decent Star Trek game, well… ever. I quite liked Klingon Honor Guard I have to say, but I could tell (even back then) that it wasn’t a great game as games went. It used the Unreal game engine, which was quite advenced for the time, but that was about all it had going for it. The gameplay was basic, and the storyline and character development were lacking to say the least. Still, I liked it for what it was – a great insight into the mind of the warrior.

I also used to play the Star Trek Starship Creator game, which was absolutely abysmal! Ah, good times.

Anyways, the second reason I’m looking forward to Star Trek Online is because a lot of people (my family included) seem to play other MMORPG and seem to have a lot of fun doing it. World Of Warcraft is the most popular one as far as I can tell, but I haven’t stooped so low as to try it myself. I’ve seen the addiction that some people get, and I’m scared that I might end up the same way. But still, I’d be happy to be addicted for a short while if it meant I could play a decent Star Trek game for once.

I also like the idea of building my own Fleet. There’s an active community for the game, even though it won’t be released until next year, and they’re already hard at work recruiting people to be part of their “fleet”, or as WoW players know it, a Guild. Collabortaive play has always been an interesting aspect of PC games, so to have that as part of a Star Trek game would be awesome.

Yes, it’s safe to say that I’m very much looking forward to this game. Even if they have a monthly price plan to pay for it, I’d still be tempted. In fact, it’s almost definite – I’ll be playing it for sure. Head over to their forums to see what the latest gossip is.

Oh, and it also takes into account the events of the latest Star Trek film. The game is set in 2409, around 30 years after the events of Star Trek Nemesis, and so the events of Star Trek “recently” happened, although the game itself is still set in the prime timeline.

Bored now. Thankfully I’m off to the gym again tonight. I actually worked quite hard on Wednesday, yet still managed not to wake up on Thursday morning as stiff as a board. I think I might be slacking a bit nowadays. I go down the gym three times a week, and work hard while I’m down there, but I’m starting to think that I could work harder. Hopefully, if my knee doesn’t give me any troubles, I’ll see how much I can push it until I go to America.
