Morning all! I’m bored off my tits today, and seem to have no motivation to do anything much, so I decided to see what’s going on in the tech world right now, before I trundle off to this meeting a bit later on. And quite a lot is going on it seems…

I won’t lie, I’ve been tempted on more than one occasion to get an iPhone. Don’t get me wrong – I think it’s a complete waste of money… BUT it’s a pretty fun way to waste money. Legal, too.

At least, I hope it’ll be easy. The Big Cheese here at the office has decided to take a sick day, so I’m free to work at my own pace. Having said that, I’ve decided that Google Wave is pretty darned good.

Got myself a Google Wave invite this morning. I have to admit, aside from the info you see posted all over the net, I know very little about it. I know that around 600,000 people have been invited to the preview so far, that it’s constantly a trending topic on Twitter, and that it’s basically a type of real-time collaboration software that includes email, IM and other bits and pieces.

I’m in a bit of a bad mood this morning. Being late for work through no fault of my own is starting to piss me off as much as it probably pisses off the Powers That Be. Is it that hard to find a decent cab company these days? Disorganisation is the name of their game, baby!

Hmm, this year seems to be the year for celebrity deaths it seems. If you haven’t heard already, Patrick Swayze (of Dirty Dancing fame) died today of pancreatic cancer. I can’t say I was a big fan of his films, but at 57, it wasn’t exactly his time to go. Rest in peace.

Last night/this morning I went to access my Gmail emails via my iGoogle widget, and was kindly informed that the emails couldn’t be displayed because HTTPS was enabled in Gmail, and the iGoogle widget couldn’t function unless HTTPS was turned off. Five seconds later, however, they magically appeared in the widget.

I know I said I’d do a writeup of my time in the USA, and I (probably) still will, but right now I wanted to write about something that I’ve been wanting to see since I saw the trailer for the first time: District 9.

For the last day or so, there’s been an ongoing Twitter campaign that’s trying to undo Microsoft’s recent decision to continue using the Word rendering engine for displaying HTML emails in Outlook 2010.
