A Bout Of Tunes And Old Age

Posted by | Posted in Tunes | Posted on 13-10-2008

“…well don’t go having too many good ideas now, love – your foot might fall off…. Oh yes, it’s true. My brother had the good idea of cutting his toenails with a scythe and his foot fell off.”

UKTA Radio tonight, people! I actually forgot last week, despite posting a reminder on here myself. Just a sign of old-age I guess. Other signs of old age include:

Chronicles Cue File

Posted by | Posted in Tunes | Posted on 10-10-2008

Just a quick update to let you know that I’ve created a cue file for the Chronicles Of The Patient set that I recorded last Sunday. The set is only an hour long so it fits nicely onto a CD.

Enjoy!

What Was I saying?

Bring out the flags (to burn them!)

After the litle rant yesterday about how certain groups take advantage of the good nature of general British society and law, I read this article on the BBC News website about certain Muslim prisoners in the UK. I also had a quick conversation with someone yesterday, who was telling me about how there have been instances of Muslim prisoners being given new clothes and new bed-spreads because sniffer dogs had touched their belongings during routine cell searches.

What’s Really To Blame? Part 2

Posted by | Posted in Society, The 9-To-5 Droll | Posted on 09-10-2008

“Please sir, can I have some more?”

Things have been pretty hectic at work today, so I don’t suppose I’ll have time to do a full blown War And Peace-style article today, but I’ll see what I can muster.

Leading on from what I was saying yesterday – along with the “bad” side of society comes the good side. For every person who thinks that the world owes them a living, there is someone out there who thinks it’s up to them to help themselves, and others in the process. Generally speaking, there are are more of these “good” people than there “bad” people, but as discussed yesterday, with the declining standards of society in general, this notion is changing rapidly.

What’s Really To Blame?

Posted by | Posted in Society | Posted on 08-10-2008

“Back in my day, we had respect for our elders. And we went outside to play with our friends, not sit at a computer…”

I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before; the lifestyle that us youngsters lead these days will ruin our health before we turn 40. I can feel it already. Most days I don’t get enough sleep and wake up for work with a headache of sorts. Aches and pains get more common, stresses of the professional environment build up… the list is endless. I used to get heartburn quite badly a couple of years ago, but thankfully it’s all but disappeared these days.

Financial Markets – What The Real Crack Is

Posted by | Posted in Finance | Posted on 07-10-2008

If I have two apples, and I give you six apples, how many apples do I have left?

Well I took a look at the house I might be moving into last night, and it seems quite nice. I very much doubt I’ll find a better house round here. And because a family member of mine lived in it previously, there’s a whole load of stuff I can rob from them and use as my own, which saves me the hassle of buying a load of new furniture and guff like that. What with this so-called credit crunch, that’s probably a good thing.

I’ve had some good feedback about Sunday’s mix that I posted, and I’m glad some people are enjoying it:

This mix is fucking mint!

I read this interesting article yesterday that explained a lot about how the so-called Credit Crunch we’re in came about. There’s also a bit of history in there too, for good measure. Although the article goes into some detail about what’s been going on in the financial markets over the last couple of years, there’s a lot of slight exaggerations. Not with the story, but with descriptions like this:

UKTA Radio Tonight

Posted by | Posted in Tunes | Posted on 06-10-2008

“…and coming up after the weather…”

Just a quick update to say that I believe that UKTA Radio will be broadcasting tonight from 7pm (GMT). Of course, that’s not to say that it will actually happen, but if all goes to plan, it will.

New Set For Download

Posted by | Posted in Tunes | Posted on 06-10-2008

Take me to your leader!

Morning all!

And what a way to start the morning! I spent about six hours yesterday recording a new mix, which I’ve now uploaded and put on the site for you to download. Yay, me!

Strangely, I found out that the WordPress template I’m using doesn’t allow for comments to be posted on pages (only blog posts like this one) and so people can’t actually leave feedback about my sets. I suppose people can leave comments here, but it’d be nice to have the comments on the page that the set can be downloaded from. I’ll have to look into that.

Change Of Heart

Posted by | Posted in Tunes | Posted on 05-10-2008

I hate to say it, but…

I knew it would happen – the tracklist I’ve been working on for weeks has gone right out the window. So now I’ve come up with an almost completely new tracklist for a set that I’ll (hopefully) be recording at some point today. There are still one or two tracks that I need to find to fill in some of the gaps, but for the most part it’s done. And it’s a bit shorter than the last set as well, so hopefully it wont take me all afternoon to get a recording that I’m happy with.

I’ll post details as and when it’s finished.

Friday – The Best Of All Days

Posted by | Posted in Random | Posted on 03-10-2008

The weekend has landed. All that exists now is clubs, drugs, pubs and parties. I’ve got 48 hours off from the world, man. I’m gonna blow steam out my head like a screaming kettle, I’m gonna talk cod shit to strangers all night, I’m gonna lose the plot on the dancefloor. The free radicals inside me are freakin’, man! Tonight I’m Jip Travolta, I’m Peter Popper, I’m going to never-never land with my chosen family, man. We’re gonna get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did, anything could happen tonight, you know? This could be the best night of my life. I’ve got 73 quid in my back burner – I’m gonna wax the lot, man! The Milky Bars are on me! Yeah!

I love Fridays. I dont know why because everyone is still at work, or at school, or whatever, but I still think they’re the best day of the week. I think it’s because the weekend officially starts for most people at 5pm on a Friday, so everyone is in a happy mood, nobody actually does any work today, and you know that you’ve got 48 hours off from the world. You never know, I might actually get round to recording that new mix I’ve been planning on doing for a few months.
